University of Samsun, Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences’ Academic Council was held for the 2022-2023 academic year. Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Selahattin Kaynak, Dean Prof. Dr. Kenan Çağan, Vice Deans Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kemal Yılmaz and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Uğur Karadeniz, as well as department heads and academicians attended the program held at Canik Campus, ‘100. Yıl Konferans Salonu’.
In the opening speech, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Selahattin Kaynak gave statistical information about the faculty and talked about the newly created Workplace Education Model, which attaches importance to practice as well as theoretical knowledge. Afterwards, he said, “Although we are a newly established university, we have come a long way. Within the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, we have started to bring our students together with companies to provide them with practical knowledge as well as theoretical knowledge. We continue to develop our education and training system in accordance with our slogan of a qualified university for a qualified society.”
Speaking from the podium, Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Kenan Çağan gave information about the departments and said, “We are a new university. We have come a long way in four years. We have 13 departments in our faculty. We will have our first graduates from some of our departments this year. We have 2492 undergraduate students, 366 graduate students and 90 foreign students. In our vocational training course, a total of 61 students continue their education. It is important that students graduate not only with theoretical knowledge but also with professional experience. We care about this as a faculty and university.” In this direction, he stated that they are planning to expand the Vocational Education in Business course throughout the faculty. Then, drawing attention to the importance of double major programs, he said, “We have 42 diameter protocols between departments within the faculty. There are a total of 52 double major protocols, 10 between other faculties and our departments. We currently have 40 students who are currently doing double major programs.” Prof. Dr. Kenan Çağan ended his speech after his good wishes for the new semester.
After the speeches, department heads gave information about their departments. Afterwards, the newly appointed academics introduced themselves. The program ended after the academics were given refreshments.
